National Captioning Institute at NAB 2023
At this year’s NAB Show, we were excited to represent NCI in Las Vegas! With the pandemic affecting our attendance the past few years, it was refreshing to gather with our colleagues and clients in person again. The energy of the conference is something we always look forward to, and this year did not disappoint.
Two of our favorite events this year included:
NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame Ceremony: “ABC’s Wide World of Sports” received the Television Hall of Fame award. Several of us grew up watching this program as a Saturday television-watching regimen staple, so it was particularly nostalgic. Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Garcia received the Radio Hall of Fame award. And Lora Dennis, Executive Vice President of Digital Media for NBCUniversal Local, received the Digital Leadership Award.
“Why Creating an Inclusive Environment for Persons with Disabilities is Critical to the Success of your Business Strategy” session: Moderated by Storm Smith, this was a fascinating conversation about industry hiring practices with regard to persons with disabilities. Ann Bobeck, Keely Cat-Wells, Andraéa LaVant, and Joey Strechay rounded out the knowledgeable panelists.
Monday night, NCI also hosted a private reception at the Grand Lux Cafe where we debuted our newest product: CaptionSentry OnDemand. It was fantastic to exhibit technology we’re incredibly proud of and it was even better with industry friends there.
We hope to see everyone we missed at NAB New York in October!
